A Correction to the Design

Panel 1: Afandi sits against a walnut tree, one hand raised toward the tiny nuts overhead, the other pointing at two enormous pumpkins on frail vines, a young student with a scroll leaning in to ask. Panel 2: Afandi leans back with both palms open in argument, the student pointing up into the branches, as walnuts drop above his turban. Panel 3: a walnut strikes his turban in a burst of gold lines; he recoils, hand to his head, while the student points and exclaims.

Swipe to see all three panels.

  1. Student: Why do you frown at that tree, Afandi?

Afandi: Look. Great pumpkins on a thread, small nuts on a giant.

  2. Student: And how would you have arranged it?

Afandi: Pumpkins on the branches, walnuts on the vine.

  3. Student: A walnut has just landed on your head, Afandi.

Afandi: Yes. And I am glad I was not put in charge.

He proposed a better arrangement of creation, and creation replied with the smallest available argument.
